Robert Mathis spent 13 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and finished his career as one of the NFL’s greatest pass rushers. His 123.0 sacks are the most in franchise history and rank 19th in league history. In addition, Mathis totaled 363 tackles (121 solo), 71.0 tackles for loss, 52 forced fumbles, 18 passes defensed, 17 fumble recoveries and one interception. He also ranks first in NFL history in sack-forced fumbles.
In 2013, Mathis led the NFL with 19.5 sacks, which was the most for a single-season in team history. He earned the inaugural Deacon Jones Award, was a First Team Associated Press All-Pro recipient and earned his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl nod. Mathis was also named the AFC Defensive Player of the Year by the Kansas City Committee of 101 Awards.
Mathis was part of a Colts team that earned a then-NFL record for wins in a decade with 115 from 2000-09. HE is a Super Bowl XLI champion and also played in Super Bowl XLIV three years later.
Mathis was a four-year defensive end at Alabama A&M and posted 44.0 sacks in his collegiate career. As a senior, he registered an NCAA 1-AA record with 20.0 sacks.
